Ampere, a subsidiary of Greaves Electric Mobility, is gearing up to launch its new premium electric scooter in the Indian market. The model, named as the ‘NXG,’ was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023 as a concept. The sketches obtained by us from our reliable sources show that the production version will retain the same sharp and angular design as the concept. The electric scooter will have a sporty appeal and will be built on a modular platform. It will cater to the passenger segment, while the company also has a commercial segment-oriented model, the NXU, in its pipeline.

Features and specifications

The NXG will come with a host of features, such as all-LED lighting, a distinctive H-shaped LED headlamp, flush footpegs, a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, and a front disc brake. The company has not revealed the powertrain details yet, but it had claimed that the NXG will offer a range of up to 120 km on a single charge and will have a mid-mounted motor similar to the Primus. The NXG will be the most premium offering from Ampere, which already has models like the flagship Primus and Magnus in its portfolio. The company is expected to launch the NXG in the next few months.

Market performance and expansion

In November, Greaves sold 4,410 units in the domestic market, registering a marginal 6 percent growth on the MoM basis as compared to the 4,172 units sold in the previous month. The company has also ventured into the international market by setting up dealerships in Nepal.
