Honda, the Indian two wheeler giant has made an exciting announcement they are set to break into the electric vehicle market, launching two new electric scooters. Both models will be part of the ‘Made in India’ initiative with the potential of being exported as well. The much awaited Activa EV is believed to be one of the two models and the anticipation for this electric scooter has been palpable in both the customer and industry circles. Two Models of Honda EV Scooters to be Launched in 2024
Honda plans to launch two electric scooters in India in 2024, according to the latest reports. One of these models will have a swappable battery pack, while the other will feature a fixed battery unit. Both models will be based on a dedicated platform, which Honda has codenamed Platform ‘E’. Honda will use this platform to create a range of electric two-wheelers in the future.
The Honda Activa Electric is expected to be the fixed battery model which is scheduled to launch in FY24 (April 2023-March 2024). Honda has already filed patents for a fixed battery and hub motor which is expected to power this model. The mid-range electric scooter is expected to have a competitive price tag.

Honda has announced plans to set up over 6,000 battery swapping stations across the country. allowing customers to swap out the swappable battery at designated charging stations. Furthermore, Honda will also convert some of these touchpoints into EV-dedicated workshops where customers can charge their fixed battery EVs. Currently, there are only 23 battery-swapping stations in Bangalore.
This move by Honda is certain to revolutionize the EV industry in India as more and more customers opt for electric vehicles. With Honda’s entry into the market the industry is sure to receive a significant boost.
The Much-Awaited Activa EV Expected to be One of the Models
Many Indians have been choosing Honda’s iconic Activa scooter for years now, and they are eagerly anticipating the launch of the Activa EV. Although Honda has not yet confirmed the launch of the EV variant, industry sources highly believe that it will happen.
