Hyundai Motor, India's second largest car maker, will launch the globally acclaimed electric vehicle (EV) - IONIQ 5 - in India this year, probably in the second half of 2022.

 Hyundai Motor, India’s second largest car maker, will launch the globally acclaimed electric vehicle (EV) – IONIQ 5 – in India this year, probably in the second half of 2022.

 IONIQ 5 introduces Hyundai’s BEV (battery electric vehicle). The carmaker plans to expand to India by 2028 with at least six battery-powered vehicles in its lineup. Hyundai is already selling Kona EV in India.

Although the company has not announced the price of the car, it is expected to cost around Rs 35-45 lakh in India. Recently, Hyundai’s sister company Kia announced pre-booking for EV6 electric crossover in India from May 26, 2022.

 Currently, the availability of EV6 in Kia India is limited to 100 units due to the chip. Famine problem.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes with two powertrain options: a single motor that produces 169 hp and 350 Nm of torque. 

For batteries, there are two options: 72.6 kWh battery pack and 58 kWh battery pack.

According to reports, the larger battery pack can provide a range of 481 kilometers, while the smaller battery pack can cover a range of 383 kilometers on a single charge. 

The EV also has 800V battery technology, which means that with a 220 kW DC charger it can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
