Lamborghini, the Italian supercar maker, is gearing up to launch its first-ever electric car in 2028. The company has confirmed that the upcoming EV will be a 2+2 grand tourer, which means it will have four seats and a sleek body style.
The electric grand tourer will be a new addition to Lamborghini’s lineup, which currently consists of the Urus SUV, the Huracan sports car, and the Revuelto hybrid supercar. EV will be sold exclusively as an electric vehicle, and will not have a hybrid or a combustion engine variant.
Lamborghini CEO Stephen Winkelmann has revealed some details about the electric grand tourer, such as its ground clearance and platform. He said that the EV will have more ground clearance than the Huracan and Revuelto, but less than the Urus. He also said that the EV will not be a crossover, but a more daily usable car than the other sports cars.
Winkelmann also hinted that the electric grand tourer will not use an all-Lamborghini platform, but will benefit from the synergies of the Volkswagen Group, which owns Lamborghini. This means that the EV could share some components or technology with other brands under the VW umbrella, such as Porsche, Audi, Bentley, or Volkswagen.

Lamborghini’s electric grand tourer is part of the company’s plan to electrify its entire range by the end of this decade. The company has already announced that all its models will become hybridized starting from 2024, with the Revuelto being the first hybrid supercar from the brand. The Revuelto boasts a whopping 1001 hp from its 6.5-liter V12 engine and an electric motor.
Urus SUV, which is Lamborghini’s best-selling model, will also get an electric version in 2029, following the electric grand tourer. This suggests that Lamborghini is committed to embracing the electric future, while still maintaining its distinctive design, style, and performance.
Lamborghini’s first electric car is expected to debut in 2028, marking a new era for the legendary supercar brand. The electric grand tourer will offer a unique combination of luxury, comfort, and speed, while also being environmentally friendly.
