Lotus, the iconic British sports car manufacturer, has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its first all-electric model, the Eletre. The Eletre is a hyper SUV that combines the soul of a super sports car with the practicality of an SUV. It is available in three variants, with prices starting from Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom).
Eletre is based on the brand’s Electric Premium Architecture, which allows for a high level of customization and personalization. The design of the Eletre is inspired by the Evija electric hypercar, which was unveiled in 2019. It features a distinctive front end with boomerang-shaped headlights, a large air intake, and a hexagonal grille. The rear end has a continuous LED light bar, massive vents, and a retractable rear wing. The SUV also has a stepped roof spoiler and 22-inch wheels as standard.

The interior of the Eletre is sleek and futuristic, with a sporty steering wheel and a large 15.1-inch touchscreen in the center. It comes with a 23-speaker KED sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and an ADAS suite that includes four lidar sensors and seven HD cameras. The Eletre also has a full autonomous driving capability, thanks to the dual Orin-X lidar system that scans 200 meters around the car in every direction.
The Eletre is powered by a 112 kWh battery pack that can be charged up to 80% in 20 minutes using an 800V charger. The battery pack is paired with either a single or dual electric motor setup, depending on the variant. The base and S trims have a single motor that produces 597 BHP and 710 Nm of torque, while the Eletre R has a dual motor that delivers 896 BHP and 985 Nm of torque. The Eletre can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of over 350 km/h. The base and S trims have a range of 600 km, while the Eletre R has a range of 490 km.

Eletre is the first model from Lotus in India, and the brand plans to introduce the Emira sports car next year. The Eletre is aimed to compete with the likes of Lamborghini, which also has an electric SUV concept called the Lanzador. The Lanzador is a four-seater crossover that has a power output of 1015 CV and a top speed of over 400 km/h. Lamborghini is expected to launch the Lanzador in 2024, along with an electric version of the Urus SUV.
Lotus is known for its heritage and innovation in sports car design and engineering, and the Eletre is a testament to that. The Eletre is a bold and contemporary hyper SUV that offers a new level of performance, technology, and driving pleasure. It is a car that appeals to the discerning and adventurous drivers who want to explore new paths and new ways to express themselves.
