The Indian market is witnessing a huge demand for electric vehicles. Global car brands are launching their electric cars in India. Tata Motors is the leader in the electric segment with three models: Tata Nexon, Tigor EV and Tiago EV. Among them, Tata Nexon is the most popular model. Recently, the domestic and international demand for electric cars has increased. This has prompted India’s No.1 car maker Maruti Suzuki to launch its first electric car.

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car to debut in October 2024

According to a recent report, India’s largest car maker will unveil its first electric vehicle in October 2024. In this event, Maruti Suzuki will announce the prices for its production EVX. This is a global electrification program for SUVs. It will use Toyota’s electric vehicle platform.

Toyota-badged version will come a little later after the Maruti Suzuki EVX (Maruti Suzuki EVX). Both versions of the EVX electric SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s facility in Gujarat. The facility in Gujarat that currently exports Suzuki vehicles to foreign markets will be used for domestic and international markets.

The concept car shown in 2023 had a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. The Maruti EVX measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height. The concept version of Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV had a 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

This car offers a range of 550 kilometers. The report says that it has a smaller 48kWh battery pack. With the blade cell technology, the car makers can achieve optimal packaging, higher range and competitive prices. It can be offered with 2WD (two-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems.

I am very much fascinated by electric vehicles. I hope that by writing this article, I can share my knowledge of EVs with the rest of the world, particularly in India. Because EVs are the future, we should support green motors in order to save the environment.
