Former Indian cricket captain and car enthusiast MS Dhoni has added a new vehicle to his impressive collection: the Kia EV6, the first fully electric car from the Korean automaker. Dhoni was seen driving his new car with his friends and fellow cricketers Ruturaj Gaekwad and Kedar Jadhav in Ranchi, where he lives.
Kia EV6 is an all-electric SUV that was launched in India in 2022 with a limited number of units. The car is priced between Rs 59.95 lakh and Rs 64.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in two variants: a single motor rear-wheel-drive system that produces 226 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, and a dual motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers 321 bhp and 605 Nm of torque. Dhoni’s car is a Moonscape Grey colour and is likely to be the more powerful AWD version, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds.

It is powered by a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery that can offer a range of up to 708 km (ARAI-certified) on a single charge. The car also supports fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger. The car features a futuristic design, a spacious cabin, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and various safety and driver assistance features.
Dhoni is known for his passion for cars and bikes and has a garage that includes several exotic and vintage models, such as a 1969 Ford Mustang, a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, a Hummer H2, an Audi Q7, a Land Rover Series III, a Mercedes-Benz GLE, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. With the Kia EV6, Dhoni has shown his interest in electric mobility and environmental sustainability.
Kia has announced that it has sold over 200 units of the EV6 in India since its debut and is working to complete the pending deliveries by the end of 2022. The car competes with the Volvo XC40 Recharge in the Indian market and will soon face another rival in the form of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is expected to launch in early 2023.
