Ola Electric, the EV arm of the ride-hailing giant Ola, has revealed four new concept electric motorcycles on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day. The company, which recently launched its S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, has showcased its vision for the future of electric mobility in the two-wheeler segment.

Four concepts: Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster and Cruiser

The four concept electric motorcycles are named Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster and Cruiser. Each one represents a different category and design philosophy, catering to various consumer preferences and usage patterns.

Diamondhead is the most radical and futuristic of the four, featuring a diamond-shaped front fascia with a horizontal LED strip, a hidden LED headlamp pod, and low-slung clip-ons. The bike also has a hub-centred steering system instead of a conventional fork setup, a large swingarm at the front, a belt drive system, and two big front disc brakes. Ola claims that this will be a generationally defining product that will bring in an EV revolution in motorcycling.

Adventure is aimed at off-road enthusiasts, with an upright stance, tall mirrors, light pods with a LED DRL at the front, and good ground clearance. The bike also has knobby tyres, a bash plate, and a luggage rack at the rear.

Roadster is designed for street use, with a sleek and sporty look. The bike has a headlamp with a LED strip and a small windscreen, flowing elements around the charger cowling, tall clip-ons, and turn indicators placed on extensions.

Cruiser is meant for long-distance touring, with a low-slung stance and flowing lines. The bike has an LED headlamp and DRL, a digital instrument console, a long fuel tank, and a LED tail-lamp.

Pre-reservations open; launch by end-2024

Ola Electric has opened pre-reservations for the concept electric motorcycles on its website. The company has not revealed any specification details or pricing information yet. However, it has confirmed that the launch will take place by end-2024 in a phased manner. Ola Electric’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said that the company plans to further expand its portfolio under each of these categories to cater to consumer demands across all form factors and price points.

Ola Electric is also expected to showcase the new feature additions to its MoveOS software, which powers its electric scooters and motorcycles. The company aims to become a global leader in electric mobility and has set up the world’s largest two-wheeler factory in Tamil Nadu.
