Simple Energy, a Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler startup, has launched its second product, the Dot One electric scooter, on December 31, 2023. The Dot One is a more affordable and compact version of the Simple One, which was launched in August 2023.
The Dot One is priced at Rs 1,39,999 (ex-showroom, Bangalore) and will be available for pre-booking from January 27, 2024. Existing customers of the Simple One will get a priority option to switch to the Dot One if they wish.
A peppy and practical electric scooter
The Dot One boasts of a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 2.77 seconds, thanks to its 8.5 kW electric motor and 3.7 kWh battery pack. The scooter also offers a range of safety features, such as CBS and disc brakes on both wheels.
The Dot One has a generous 35-litre under-seat storage space, which can accommodate a full-face helmet and other essentials. The scooter also comes with a touchscreen instrument cluster that can connect to a smartphone app and provide features like navigation, music, and calls.
A strong contender in the electric two-wheeler market
The Dot One will compete with the Ola S1 Air, which is another electric scooter launched by the ride-hailing giant Ola in 2023. The Ola S1 Air claims a range of 151 km and a top speed of 90 kmph. It also has a 6 kW electric motor and a 0-40 kmph sprint time of 3.3 seconds. The Ola S1 Air is priced at Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom, Bangalore) and offers various driving modes and mobile connectivity features.
The Dot One and the Ola S1 Air are among the many electric two-wheelers that have entered the Indian market in 2023, as the demand for eco-friendly and cost-effective mobility solutions grows. Both the scooters aim to attract customers with their performance, design, and features.
