Bengaluru based two wheeler start-up Simple Energy is all set to launch its much awaited electric scooter the Simple One in the last week of April. according to sources close to the company. The One was first unveiled on August 15, 2021 but it has been delayed by a year and a half despite receiving timely updates.
Simple Energy joined the ever-growing Indian electric two-wheeler market with its product, the Simple One. The company will face stiff competition from established players such as Ola and Ather, who have already launched their own electric scooters and established battery swapping infrastructure.
The public has responded overwhelmingly to the Simple One, and the company has received more than one lakh bookings for its only electric scooter. Simple Energy is poised to ramp up production and deliveries of the Simple One, thanks to its new facility in Tamil Nadu and fresh investment of $20 million. The company plans to start deliveries in Bengaluru first, and then expand to other cities in the coming months. However, supply chain issues may affect the delivery timelines.
The cost of Simple One has increased significantly since the revised vehicle and component guidelines took effect. Initially priced at a competitive ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), the scooter is now speculated to cost between Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh. Additionally, the manufacturer has released a new top-spec variant with a claimed range of 300 km on a single charge.
Simple Energy has already begun accepting bookings for the scooter on its official website even though the quantum of the price hike is yet to be revealed. However, the launch date remains unknown.
Simple One electric scooter offers a 4.8 kWh battery pack which provides a claimed range of 236 km and a true range of 203 km on a single charge and if you need even more range, you can upgrade to the 300 km version with a second battery pack. It’s equipped with an 8.5 kW motor and 72 Nm of peak torque for a powerful ride.

The scooter features 30 liters of boot space for luggage and a large touchscreen to give you easy access to information, maps, music, phone connectivity and more. This e-scooter is decked out with all the bells and whistles. It has LED lighting, along with a 7-inch touchscreen digital console with 4G and Bluetooth connectivity that lets you take calls and control music. Plus, you can charge it quickly with the Loop charging network.
