Tata Punch EV vs Mahindra XUV400: Which electric car is better for you?

By | January 6, 2024

Tata Motors, the country’s leading automobile manufacturer, is ready to launch its new electric car, Tata Punch EV, in the Indian market by the end of this month. The company is currently accepting bookings for this vehicle, which will compete with Mahindra XUV400, another electric car in the same segment. In this article, we will compare the two vehicles and help you decide which one is better for you.

Design and Features

Tata Punch EV has a design inspired by the Tata Nexon facelift, which was launched last year. It features slim LED headlights, a closed grillenew alloy wheelsconnected LED taillights and connected LED DRLs at the front. The Mahindra XUV400, on the other hand, is built on the Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform. It has a front air dam covered with X design elements and the company’s new logo in the middle.

Both the vehicles have impressive interiors, with a range of features to enhance the comfort and convenience of the passengers. The Tata Punch EV offers ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.23-inch virtual cockpit and a 360 degree camera. For safety, it also has Level-2 ADAS technology along with 6 airbags. The Mahindra XUV400 has an infotainment system that supports more than 60 connectivity options, but it does not have some of the features that the Tata Punch EV has, such as the sunroof, the virtual cockpit and the 360 degree camera.

Battery and Performance

The battery and performance of the two vehicles are also different, with the Mahindra XUV400 having an edge over the Tata Punch EV. XUV400 has a 39.5kW battery pack, which can generate a power of 150bhp and a peak torque of 310Nm. It can deliver a range of 456 kilometers on a full charge, which is quite impressive for an electric car. The Tata Punch EV, on the other hand, is expected to come in two versions, with 25kWh and 35kWh capacity batteries. It will have two charging options, including a 7.2 kW fast home charger with support for a fast charger. However, the range and power of the Tata Punch EV are likely to be lower than the Mahindra XUV400.

Price and Availability

Price and availability of the Tata Punch EV are yet to announced, but it is estimated that it will cost around Rs 12 lakh. The Mahindra XUV400, on the other hand, is priced between Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 19.39 lakh. Tata Punch EV may be cheaper than the Mahindra XUV400, but it may not offer the same value for money as the latter.

Tata Punch EV and the Mahindra XUV400 are both promising electric cars that offer a lot of features and benefits to the customers. However, based on the comparison, we think that the Mahindra XUV400 is a better choice, as it has more range, more power, more features and more space than the Tata Punch EV. The Tata Punch EV may be a powerful electric vehicle, but it falls short of the Mahindra XUV400 in some aspects. Therefore, our vote goes to the XUV400.
