Ather Energy, a Bengaluru-based startup, is all set to launch its most affordable model in the e-scooter segment, the Ather 450S, on August 3. The company has teased the upcoming electric scooter on its social media platforms and revealed some of its key features. Here’s what we know so far about the Ather 450S.

Price and availability

Ather 450S will have a starting price of Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it cheaper than the Ather 450X that costs Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has not yet announced the booking details or the delivery timeline for the new model, but it is expected to be available in select cities across India.

Battery and performance

This scooter will have a smaller battery pack than the 3.7kWh unit found on the 450X. The company has claimed that the 450S will have a riding range of 115 km on a single charge, which is slightly lower than the 116 km range of the 450X. The top speed of the 450S will be identical to the 450X at 90 kmph, but it is not clear if the motor will make the same 6.2kW of peak power.

Features and design

Ather 450S will still feature Bluetooth connectivity and a colour dash, but it may not be a TFT unit like the one on the 450X. The design of the 450S will be similar to the 450X, with a sleek and futuristic look. However, some changes may be seen in the mirror stalks and the passenger footpegs, which could be more practical and simple. The 450S will also have LED lights, disc brakes, alloy wheels and a digital instrument cluster.
